The Archives

BIO:

The Archives know what it means to fight for something you really want. Founding members Anthony Menecola (bass, vocals) and Crispin Day (guitar) could have easily hung up their rock and roll lifestyles a few months back and carried on with their lives in a much less stressful way. Both of them have full time jobs that are close to the music industry which they’ve built names for themselves in - Menecola as a cutting edge graphic designer and Day as a up and coming engineer and producer. It could have been the end, that simple. The brief struggle to pull the Archives back together after member changes was tense and trying, but the two Mississauga-bred musicians wouldn’t have it any other way.

They founded The Archives in late 2009 and built their unique brand of post-rock and roll on a few rather straight-forward founding principles - respect, brotherhood, and above all else - good tunes. As the Archives got rolling, released their debut EP Hail Ceasar, and dug out a hole for themselves in the Toronto music community, something just wasn’t right. After loosing a drummer by choice and a guitarist by chance, Menecola and Day were back to the drawing board, building things from ground up.

Already having shared stages with the likes of Nashville’s Cactus’s, The Balconies, Saint Alvia Cartel, and Dinosaur Bones to name a few; local fans waited eagerly for their return. With their primary mandate in mind, Menecola and Day scoured the streets of Toronto for the missing peices to their rocking puzzle. It didn’t take long for Menecola and Day to track down local drummer Kevin White (formerly of Corduroy) and long time friend Will Gooch to join them as second guitarist and flesh out the new line up. With hours of practice and a bit of good ol’ rock and roll magic, Menecola and Day had stumbled so nonchalantly upon the band they had always hoped for. They made their debut to a packed show at the Silver Dollar, with a blistering live set, and made their mark. Infused with the excitement only good music can provide, the boys in the Archives made it clear that they are here to stay.

And if there’s anything to be learned from this long haul, it’s that respect, brotherhood, and of course good tunes will ALWAYS prevail. Well, if you work hard enough at least.
