Hey friends,
I’m sitting here at my desk on a Sunday afternoon in December… hmmm where to start…
Maybe I should first start by telling you that I have never kept a job for more than 3 years in my life. Ever. My past employers can attest. I was always in and out, that is until I made the life altering commitment to start Audio Blood 3 years ago.
I didn’t really know what I was getting myself in to, to be honest, but I knew that I liked the feeling of watching our artists careers grow and getting to be a part of that. I knew that I loved waking up every day and sitting in an office with my best friends in the world talking about music. 3 years later and nothing has changed. But really everything has. Our artists have grown, some have moved on to bigger things, some have folded, but yet I’m still in the office on a Sunday afternoon listening to Brand New and trying to catch up on emails.
It’s sometimes hard to look out from the inside but there is no doubt that none of this 3-year-old-birthday-thing would even be possible if it wasn’t for the amazing community that surrounds and defines Audio Blood. The amazingly talented artists, the brilliant staff, our inspiring clients, and the dedicated fans who are out at our shows and tweeting about our bands all play a hugely significant role. We have a long way to go and I look forward to celebrating our 4th and 5th and 6th and 50th birthday with you all.
We all know Audio Blood birthday parties are not to be missed occaisions. Perhaps you recall last year’s Holiday two night stand at the Rivoli and the year before that the Jingle Bell Rock at the Horseshoe? Or maybe you don’t remember them because they were possibly the sloppiest nights of the year? Either way, I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our aging than taking over Sneaky Dee’s with 60s/70s hits and dancing the night away.
Three years ago I booked a new band named The Balconies their first Toronto show at Rancho Relaxo. Their performance that night is one of the reasons that led me to starting Audio Blood. I am so lucky to get to be working with them every day. The Balconies will be playing the best 60s/70s covers all night.
2 years ago Bobby Kimberley (Young Lions Music Club) introduced me to his ex-roommate from Ottawa Jeremy Tompkins and we drank white wine outside of the Music Gallery before seeing the Wooden Sky play. A few months later, Jeremy joined the AB Fam and has since become a very important piece of the puzzle and a really great friend. Always by my side through thick and thin, I don’t know how I got so lucky. Jeremy will be DJing and hosting the night!
Sneaky Dee’s is home to some of this cities finest parties but also home to some of the greatest people. Another valued member of the AB fam, getting to work with the Sneaky Dee’s team is another awesome perk of doing what I do.
So as you can see, this is an important night to celebrate all of our hours of hard work and give thanks to everyone for making 3 years a reality. I can’t say it enough - THANK YOU for your support, it truly means the world to me, my artists, and team.
Let’s kick some ass in 2012!
MUCH LOVE,
Sari Delmar (Audio Blood President)
