Toronto indie darlings Hands & Teeth prepare to launch their debut full length album ‘Hunting Season’ early 2012; following a successful start for the young band. Backed by a reputation for high-energy performances and a melodic pop-rock fusion, the band has been able to draw a large fan base in the two years since they have formed. Filling venues at festivals like Canadian Music Week, and North by North East, Hands & Teeth earned themselves the title of a ‘must-see’ Toronto outfit.
Their first release in 2010, ‘Enjoy Your Lifestyle’ EP, served as the main focus of the band’s touring schedule over the past year. While the EP remains the only album released to date, the talented five-piece have long been entrenched in Toronto’s music community. With each member previously stemming from individual projects, they came together to create music that exemplifies an experimental approach to pop tunes infused with up-tempo rock rhythms. Their stunning stage show has earned them spots supporting artists such as The Balconies, The Zoobombs, and Whale Tooth.
Currently wrapping up the recording process, Hands & Teeth will be set to release their upcoming album ‘Hunting Season’ on January 17th with supporting tour dates in Ontario and Quebec. On the strength of their EP and the reputation they have created in the Toronto music community, fans can expect Hands & Teeth to continue to bring the energy and creative candor we’ve come to love from them.

Hands & Teeth, a Toronto-based five-piece, demonstrate what can be created when friends unite through a love of good food and complex harmonies.
What began as a series of casual dinners representing four diverse music projects has become, according to Exclaim.ca’s Lonely Vagabond, “a tight unit performing with…energy and vigour…a celebratory delight!”
Hands & Teeth’s sound is an artful fusion of pop, classical composition, angular guitar rock and inventive rhythms. It tastefully sweeps from whisper-quiet ballads to roaring anthems, reflecting each member’s eclectic past. Since the band is composed of musicians who were leaders of their own individual projects, each member takes an active role in all elements of production, from song writing to lead vocals.
Their efforts have already garnered a flurry of interest and attention. In the last 14 months they have headlined shows from London to Montreal, were invited to play a private island music festival in Eastern Ontario, had an early single (“Hunting Season”) appear in a McDonald’s online ad campaign, received airplay on CBC Radio 2, CBC Radio 3, and BBC 6, and charted at several Canadian college radio stations.
Hands & Teeth have a rich on-stage presence and unparalleled dedication to the creative process. Recently four of the five members decided to take up residence together in a studio-apartment located in Toronto’s Parkdale community.
‘Enjoy Your Lifestyle’, their debut EP, was released in October 2010. The self-produced five-song EP was mixed by Laurence Currie (Sloan and Wintersleep), features angelic guest vocals from Lisa Lobsinger, and was mastered by Noah Mintz.
